Ok i have access to a couple of 1721's that usually connect up to via v.32 cable (i think thats the name) to a CSU.
However how would i connect up two routers with one cable for my lab?

What type of WICs do they have installed in them? With a WIC-1T or WIC-2t in each you can connected them with a DCE/DTE cable such as this:

or you can connect them with a CAT5/RJ45 crossover cable via the built-in fast ethernet interface.
The serial connection would be preferable for you lab studies.
