sys requirements for WSUS

eltoroeltoro Member Posts: 168
Hi guys,
I am about to setup a wsus server in my home lab. the server is Pentium 3 (866Mhz) and 512 MB of RAM. Will this be sufficient for a WSUS server with just 5 client pcs. The reason I am asking is because the CBT nuggets video said the minimum requirement is 1 GB of RAM and a P4. Is it absolutely necessary?

Thanks

I think it'll probably run. what else do you have running on the server?
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

According to the "Sybex" book, a server with Pentium III 700Mhz processor and 512Mb RAM can support up to 15,000 WSUS clients. icon_exclaim.gif

P.S. Just read the same in "Syngress" book. They say, that this is "according to Microsoft" :D
