I've already redecorated my boxer shorts just booking it so fook knows what I'll be like next Thursday. Anyone have any tips for me for this final week. Taking it at Taitec in Manchester city centre.

Just relax, you either know it or you don't! Brush up on the stuff you are unsure of, but don't cram too much as it is hard to retain that much information. From your posts on here it seems you have been studying and practicing, so I am sure you will do fine. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I was exhausted after training, and scared to take the test. Not sure why.

What is in the book is on the test.

Spend the next week on the cisco site and do the practice exams and be familiar with the layout of the questions.

    Watch the prep videos.

    Good luck

I tried the test questions on the cisco website and they word the questions and possible answers in a proper vague and confusing manner! Surely that's not testing your knowledge of the technologies and ability to configure and troubleshoot them!?!?!

Cisco has their own way of asking questions. Just look for the "meat" of the question. Figure out what they want to know and tell them. The CCNA will be yours!!!!! Be confidante, you know the stuff, don't let the test trick you into thinking you don't. Also I hear a lot of people on here talking about time being an issue, but if you know what you are doing its not. I had about 30 min left when I finished mine. Time is one more thing to distract you, so don't worry about that either.

The best advice I could give you is to not loose your cool when it gets tough. There may be a time in the test when your not sure what to do, and you feel like you are using way to much time. Don't let that fog your mind. Just stay calm and clear headed, take a deep breath, and think through it. I assure you the trivial questions will help you make up the time.

    Oh and mattipler,

I was sweating the vagueness of the test because of all those bad practice questions out there. Don't worry, the questions are straight forward and they do not try to intentionally trick you. There may be some questions that seem as if a couple are correct, but think through them and you will know which one they are looking for. Don;t worry about those exam prep questions.

Cheers guys. Have to admit those exam prep questions did have me a little concerned. :)

I'm sure I should do ok. I've never worked as hard for anything or wanted something as much in my life. Sincerely. Recently I even dream about this bloody exam!!! :D I wake up reciting specific stats in my head in the middle of the night without even knowing I'm doing... "EIGRP uses a 32 bit metric" and I'll think to myself, "What am I doing!?!?!? This is bordering on obsession!!!" icon_lol.gif

Like others have said, best wishes and try to keep calm, read each question at least twice also.

Just out of interest how does one go about booking a test and what sort of lead time is there between booking and getting a date and who do you contact if not doing it through an academy program?

    Thanks.
I used to be undecided but now I'm not so sure.

You'd go to the website of the company that does the testing unless you call in to schedule.

Usually they'll want you to schedule at least a day or two in advance. Some centers will actually let you do a walk-in if they're not booked and have open seats.

I work for an IT training company here and they have a testing center at one of the offices which I can do walk-ins at.

Thanks for that. Years ago I called a prometric I believe in Holland to arrange a test in local test centre.

Same here Stevo. I'm not remotely worried about my technical knowledge... I'm worried about how Cisco word the questions. Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. I'm taking mine at 2:30pm.

The questions are straighforward if you know the material. They are not vague like many of the practice questions you may have read. The practice exams are made "difficult" by leaving out details or poor wording, the Cisco exams won't do that. All the details are there to answer the question. Know your show commands and how to interpert the output of a show command.
