    CCleaner is amazing. It cleans the registry, cookies, temp files, and is updated frequently.

    Yep, I use CCleaner for every machine. It works well and I've never known a problem to be caused by it. It's updated fairly frequently too, so leave the "check for updates" feature turned on.

    Nah JD - MS I like ... Vista I don't like. Even when you turn off all the security rubbish it is still way too danged slow - even running 2GB memory.

    You need to turn off all the extra Vista features--especially Aero. And like XP, there a lot of services running that you probably don't need. There must be some good Vista performance tuning/tweaks sites by now.
