might be of interest to you guys - good way to diversify especially if you're interested in backbone stuff. i believe juniper is generally considered better for backbone.

I bet it's just for US based peeps. I guess I haven't got my CCNA yet though!

Juniper, the challenger to Cisco in the service provider core routing and enterprise networking markets is making its boldest move yet to target the Cisco enterprise installed base. It is offering free training to Cisco certified professionals worldwide to become Juniper-certified. The program ends December 2007 and is aimed at Cisco Certified Network Associates, Cisco Certified Network Professionals, and Cisco Certified Internetwork Experts .....

Actually, I heard that this was originally only for non-US people anyway, so everybody interested should sign up! -
JohnDouglas Member Posts: 186good news that non-US can sign up. i imagine they'll keep the program going. after all the lack of juniper certified people isn't going to be solved over a few months.
reckon i might have a crack at this after i've got my CCNA (fingers crossed for sept 20th). the syllabus can't be wildly different from CCNA. besides it's a free exam (so long as i can take it somewhere nearby). although i guess it's yet another exam that'll need to be recertified in future so they'll get there money back! -
Netstudent Member Posts: 1,693 ■■■□□□□□□□Does anyone that has taken the Juniper Track know how feasible this really is? I mean how likely is it that someone can be ready for the Juniper exam after a week of study? These are 3 day cram sessions. How difficult are the Juniper exams as compared to Cisco exams?
I'm seriously considering putting some time into this so any input would be great. There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1! -
r_durant Member Posts: 486 ■■■□□□□□□□I saw info on this sometime back and i'm thinking about taking a crack at it after I get by CCNA (positive thinking ) as well...CCNA (Expired...), MCSE, CWNA, BSc Computer Science
Working on renewing CCNA! -
gabrielbtoledo Member Posts: 217I will jump in the bandwagon if it's worth the certification. However I still need to take my CCNA first.A+ Certified - Network+ - MCP (70-290)
MCSA - CCNA - Security+ (soon) -
mikearama Member Posts: 749The enrollment process was simple. It's completely e-learning, with a free Prometric voucher at the end.
I'm asking myself, why wouldn't I take the time to do this? *shrug* Nothing really pertinent comes to mind. So I guess I'll put Switching on the back burner for a month and tackle this freebie. I mean, why not? There are only 10 kinds of people... those who understand binary, and those that don't.

ITdude Member Posts: 1,181 ■■■□□□□□□□Sounds kinda interesting. I guess that is what Juniper was hoping.I usually hang out on 224.0.0.10 (FF02::A) and 224.0.0.5 (FF02::5) when I'm in a non-proprietary mood.

JohnDouglas Member Posts: 186doesn't seem there's much to lose really. although like i say unless you're in backbone the Juniper bit might not actually be of any use! but looks good on the cv and is free.

Netstudent Member Posts: 1,693 ■■■□□□□□□□i think I'm gonna have to put cisco on the backburner for this one as well. It seems too easy and too free to not add some other vendors to your cert list. There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1!

jediknight Member Posts: 113Very interesting, I think this is going to be worth a look into as well. I'd be interested to know if anyone else takes this offer up and their experience.

JohnDouglas Member Posts: 186Excellent, I think this might have been the first useful thread I've ever posted on the in internet!
I guess this thread can be the Juniper support thread then. Lets hope they continue with their free certs next year too. Cunning move by Juniper - although I guess they'll need to slash the prices of their kit to make any real progress in the market. -
12beatechie Member Posts: 74 ■■□□□□□□□□Does anyone know if this offer still on? I do not see the free training offer on Juniper's website, not sure if I miss something here, thanks! The sky is the limit!
