another summarization question

rakemrakem Member Posts: 800
i know i have been asking alot so summarization questions, im really just having trouble understand where to use the ip summary-address command.

I know that you need to use it on the interface that is advertising the route... but in a big network design below:

summary.jpg

where would the command be used?

i think that routers A,B,C they would use the ip summary-address command on the interface that connects them to the outer router...

so A would use it on the interface connecting to D
B would use it on the interface connecting to E
C would use it on the interface connecting to F

would this be correct?

It looks right to me. That is exactly what I would do, however I am not CCNA yet.

    Where is the diagram?
There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1!

no..It did a while back when it was first posted but not now.

But you would put the summary address on the interfaces that should be advertising the summarized routes.

yep sorry this was a CCNP related question... posted in the wrong forum

but thanks for the replies, these type of questions start to get really difficult when the network design becomes more complex.
