STP and star topology !!!

Do you need STP to be running ?

    Providing it's a true star (hub and spoke) where there's no redundancy (mesh) between the spokes, then no... no need for stp.

    As soon as the spokes (branches, in the real world) can communicate with each other, then yes, you need stp to avoid switch loops.
