For those who have earned their CCNP....

I'm fairly new to networking & I'm trying to get a feel for what it's really like to work in the field. What is your job title & what types of things do you do on a day-to-day basis? I appreciate any input! :)

I own a school and am a trainer now, but when I was in the field full time I had titles like "Network Engineer", "Principal IP Engineer" and other titles ending in "Engineer". Job responsibilities can vary greatly from company to company, I worked in larger environments and service provider networks. In most cases I only used 30-40% of what I had studied for the CCNP. Some networks are all OSPF, others are all IS-IS. Some use BGP on the enterprise side, some don't. It can really be hit and miss. The best thing to do is go search for CCNP on a job site and look at the titles and the required skills for the job.

Overall you'll find most jobs will require a knowledge set outside the scope of CCNP, in addition to the CCNP topics.
