I'm looking for a L3 switch at the moment what's the difference between SMI and EMI in terms of the cisco exam coverage
What's another word for Thesaurus?

    EMI supports advanced routing protocols (eigrp, ospf, bgp) and PIM while SMI does not. I'd go with the EMI if you have a choice.

    thanks man, i'd have a bit of a shock if it didn't support those the EMI's some more money but worth it by the sound of it

    Yes they are quite expensive. I was lucky and got three spare 3750s from work. Most of the stuff you can do on a layer 2 switch so I wouldn't spend my life savings on a layer 3.
