I decided not to spend more than $400 on a 2600XM router -- and I don't own any. I did see some go for around $450 when I was checking them out, but people would bid them up even higher on eBay (which is why I went with 3640s instead).:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set! -
aueddonline Member Posts: 611 ■■□□□□□□□□so the XM router don't really offer anything more than the 3640?
I've already got a 3640 with 12.4 IOS on it, so maybe it would be beter to look out for another one of those then at least I could copy the IOS over if it needed upgrading? They are quite a bit cheaper, the config I showed on here cost about $220What's another word for Thesaurus? -
tictac Member Posts: 3 ■□□□□□□□□□The 2600XM offers things that you dont need for CCNP, such as onboard FE interfaces, support f or 12.4T (only 3660 supports this), AIM support, and more RAM.
So, I'd suggest 3640s. I have six of them and they are rock solid.
Just FYI, my CCNP/CCIE lab consists of...
6x 3640
2x 3620 (BB2, BB3)
1x 2501 (BB1)
1x 2522
1x 2511
1x 3550-24PWR (POE, 10/100, EMI)
1x 3750G-24-PS (POE, 10/100/1000, EMI)
2x 3750G-48-PS (POE, 10/100/1000, EMI)
I generally have a NM-2E2W and NM-4A/S in my 3640s and a NM-1E2W and NM-4A/S in my 3620s.
Hope that helps.
