I have been dreaming of posting a Passed thread for more than a year. Today, my dream comes true! Thanks to all you guys, not only from the technical part support, but the feeling of being united and motivated in this forum are the part I treasured most. Mikej, Lokee, NS, networker and many others, you guys are the best! For those who are new to this forum, yes, this is it, this is the best forum you are looking for!
When I was first came to this forum, I am interested to look for testimonies on how people get the job done. So, I'll put mine, hope can give a little help.
I start the journey around the day I joined this forum. I'm a sys admin, only doing desktop support and very little network related work, only cat5 cabling, unmanaged switch and DSL router. I have no ideal about what Cisco is doing for living.
I must admit that I lost motivation in the middle of somewhere. For a long whole year, I only run through cisco press 2 or 3 times, simple labs from boson and some videos.
Until I found out the current exam will be review and only last till Nov 6. I read the calender, only about 3 1/2 months to go. So, I was really picked my self up and booked all my times for CCNA. I ran through the sybex for the first time in 2 weeks, hooked up to Dynagen and RouterSim at night, occupied 6-8 hours/day, practice test for the last 3 weeks and first try today, checked flag with 987! (And proved that a deadline is your best friend)
My previous plan was CCNA->MCSA->CCNP->MCSE, but the Ms has changed the exam, I'll do survey about it. Any advice for a newbie?
For the meantime, I'll go through the sybex 6 to catch new material and then head on to Ms cert and will back to CCNP, but thats will be another year to go.
Again, THANKS!!

What is done is done, what yet to be done will be done. While in the process of doing, enjoy it.

ITdude Member Posts: 1,181 ■■■□□□□□□□Congrats! I completely agree one of the BEST study tools for any certification exam, is to make the leap of faith and book the exam within an adequate time frame to learn the material and get hands on.
You will be surprised just how much more available study time develops and how your learning just seems to fall into place versus just doing a more non-committal approach.
At least that always seems to be the case for me.I usually hang out on 224.0.0.10 (FF02::A) and 224.0.0.5 (FF02::5) when I'm in a non-proprietary mood.
