I have no experience in the computer field at all. In fact, my BA is in Criminal Justice. I want to get back into computers but I'm worried that even after getting my CCNA certification that I won't be able to obtain employment. Am I traveling the right path?

If computers is what you want to continue I'd look around for some type of entry level job, it may not be glamorous but it will get you in the door.

My first IT position was in a call center and after about 11 months there i moved to a different company doing desktop/citrix support. If you work hard you can move up quickly with a degree in criminal justice computer forensics may be a good field to look into. just my 2 cents, hope this helps!!

CCNA won't get you a job, you are going to have to get actual experience. But it will open the door to an entry level job.

I did a year at Geek Squad and a year at a help desk and now landed a job as a Systems Administrator.

Shednik is right, if you pick up a specialization in security coupled with your BA you should do alright.

I would say MCSE - Security Specialization, CEH ans Security+ are all worthy of investigation.

To add to my first post...if you find a help desk type job and work there for some time you may be able to move onto a job you are looking for. A good buddy of mine with an AS in IT, 8 months IT exp and a CCNA he landed a pretty decent job...so is it possible after a little hard work yes, but it may take longer. good luck to you
