im realy confused here, i have studying for a while now. i was testing myself today to see if i was ready for the exam, here is the question i didn't get.

What interface did switch A associate with mac address 0010.5a0b.ffba? here the answer is requred to be three interfaces?

so the question is how can one mac address be associated with three or four interfaces? or did i miss somthing?

thanks

what they are trying to say is if you go into a switch and type show
    mac-address-table

there should be mac addresses associated with each port that a host connect to.

    Just remember this case.

Every frame transimited thru a switch. The switch will check source mac address and will do this check up :

    1. If mac address in the mac table and comming from the same interface:
    Just reset age time.
    2. If mac doesn't exist in the table :
insert it in the mac table.
    3. If the mac exist and comming from a different interface:
just change source interface and reset aging time.

If step 3 keep occuring in you network, this problem is know as mac-address instability. This happen due to a loop in your network plus STP is disabled.
