i need more memory to get it running smoothly, i have 512mb of pc 400 but would it be better to have 768 ram with reduce speed? No Sacrifice, No Victory. -
OptionsJDMurray Admin Posts: 13,031 AdminThe speed of the RAM is linked to the I/O Bus clock speed of your motherboard. If your clock speed is 133 MHz then DDR-266 is the RAM that the motherboard uses. Adding faster RAM (DDR-400) won't make the motherboard's clock speed faster. More RAM is always better, so a 768MB computer will run more processes more efficiently than with only 512MB. It also might be that the DDR-400 RAM is cheaper than the DDR-266 RAM because of availability.
