I'm planning taking exam within one month (640-802).

I just wondering which u guys using sim?

So far, I found

-Boson NetSim for CCNA 7.0
-Packet Tracer 4.1
-CCNA™ Network Visualizer® 6.0

and I believe there is more.

I using Packet Tracer 4.1, also I'm taking the new verison exam which is 640-802. I maybe wrong or not, Packet Tracer 4.1 cover only 640-801, but Boson Net 7.0 and CCNA Network Visualizer is cover 640-802 exam. icon_rolleyes.gif

Which SIM is the best? Or else more to list. Thank!

    I use packet tracer 4.1 and I think they have implemented new objectives into it. I noticed you can now create dsl and cable connections as well as add voip phones to your network.

    Network virtualizer is nice also. Has really helped me sharpen my troubleshooting skills.

    one other note, since you have packet tracer 4.1 I assume you obtained that through cisco.netacad.net which you have access to through your academy. I really recommend reading the curriculum there and taking the quiz at the end of each module. Little more in depth than lammle goes, though he does make a lot of concepts easy to understand.

    SIM = crap!!

    Well thats my opinion. I haven't come across one that was worth the money. Dynamips is very good, but no support for switches. If you have no way of possibly getting real equipment than I guess you have no choice. Try to get a few routers and switches. Nothing like watching the debugs while doing a lab. That is what really gets you the indepth understanding of the technologies.

    I would like to research Dynamips later on. Anyway, I rather to have some real equipment over sim but those are seem expensive. If so, which equipments do you recommend? I just want 1 router and maybe 2 switches.

    Thank for reply!

    Well your not going to ba able to do anything with one router. What are you going to route to?? You could do router on a stick configurations, but nothing really working with routing protocols. I think three routers would be best. You can find some cheap 2500 or 2600 routers on ebay. Two switches should be enough for you CCNA studies but more is always better. Cisco certifications are an investment that will pay off in the long run if you stick with it. You can always sell the equipment when you are done.

    which sim? NONE

    Sim = garbage

    if you can't afford real equipment or rack time - look into dynagen/dynamips or GNS3.
