Restore IOS with Console Cable

Is this possible to restore an IOS across a console cable or do I have to get my router configured to the point I can connect to my tftp server with ethernet?

Yes, you can use your console port and use xmodem to install the IOS on the router. Grab some food and drink as you will be there for awhile.
