in iNET+
Hi there
Can anyone who has done the new iNet+ exam tell me whether I really have to learn any of the Internet Societies/Foundations/Companies/Organizations/Associations etc. etc. that made and standardize our wonderful Internet and WWW, along with all their acronyms and what they did and do and when???????
On top of everything else I have to remember for this exam I am finding it a real drag and am wondering if they even feature in the exam and if so, how much?
Thanks for any advise you can give.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminI haven't yet taken the I-Net+, but I'm studying for it now. I think the only Internet authrorities you'll probably see referenced on a very basic exam like I-Net+ would be the followng:
IANA - Internet Assigned Numbers Authority
http://www.iana.org/
IETF - Internet Engineering Task Force
http://www.ietf.org/
ISOC - Internet Society
http://www.isoc.org/
W3C - The World Wide Web Consortium
http://www.w3.org/
Non-Internet-specific organizations that might be mentioned are:
ANSI - American National Standards Institute
http://web.ansi.org/
ECMA - European Computer Manufacturer's Association
http://www.ecma-international.org/
IEEE - Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
http://standards.ieee.org/
ISO - The International Organization for Standardization

I was looking on the CompTia site at the exam objectives and nowhere there does it mention having to know any of them. But to be safe and not sorry I suppose I will learn a couple.
I am learning from books that predate the new exam released in 2002. Do you happen to know what's new in the new exam?
Thanks for the help! -
JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminI don't know what the difference is between rev 1 and rev 2 of the I-Net+ exam. I've been running through practice tests from Boson and Exam Essentials trying to figure out what topics I need to brush up on. So far I'm only shakey on DNS, SMTP, and MIME header fields, web server optimization, and JavaScript.
I'm probably just going to finish these practice exams, read through Tcat's I-Net+ PDF that comes with the voucher from www.getcertified4less.com/inet.asp, and then take the exam at the end of this month. I don't want to spend too much time on such a basic cert. -
lseals Member Posts: 240I just took the I-Net+ on Jan 30th and had a couple of questions on the organizations that you mentioned. You never know what test you will get when you go but I would learn them just in case.24 Hours in a day...24 Beers in a case...Coincidence?
