Why tell the turth? Our client (user, executive and those **** co-worker) don't want to know.

Again, I think every companies need a IT guy. IT is important in today market, however most management will not understand because they are from the old school (Big corporation concept).

I use number one all the time. Not because I screwed something up, but to make them just nod their head and walk away when they bother me. Just throw some crazy stuff out there and they will leave you alone pretty quick. Better yet follow them and ask their oppinion. You won't see the manager for a while after that!

I think a big thing people show know when joining IT is this.

You work so hard to make it look like you did nothing at all. Most professions have achievements that you can see with your own 2 eyes. Sales guys make money, businessmen "make" products, construction workers make houses, and etc... But when you are in IT a lot of the things you do is to attempt to make it look like you did nothing at all.

You study for weeks and work really hard in order to migrate your 2000 domain to a 2003 domain. You pre stage everything you need and create test environments so you get a great plan going. You get up at 3am after weeks of preparing and work for about 3 hours on your plan and get it going

8am everyone comes in and logs into their machine like normal and nothing changed! Yay you did nothing that anyone can see! The CEO rolls his eyes again on all the time you spend and you have nothing to show for it. Good job.

Exactly. A company knows they have a good IT department when users forget IT even exists.
