Does anyone know what they mean by "intrusive testing" when refering to routers?

For the 2 months that i worked at Sprint Nextel NOC last summer doing tier 1, from what I got out of it is, intrusive testing is actually testing, rather than non-intrusive, which is just collecting screenshots and etc... Also i think intrusive testing effects the interface and may even take it down, and has to be approved by the client and must have a window in which to take place in, thats all i know, hope this helps somewhat.
Anybody who knows more feel free to chime in or correct me.

Intrusive testing simply means that there is a possibility of taking the network interface down with the testing they perform. Non-intrusive is when they do not risk taking the connection down.

Thanks.
Useful to know. They say 'you learn something new everyday' is very true.
