Can I do this?

I need only 291 for MCSA but have been studying for 2008 for a little while now. While it's more fresh on my mind, I would like to take the MCSA upgrade exam for MCITP, 70-648. Can I take that exam and then finish 291? Do test centers/microsoft allow you to go out of order like that?

I don't think you will be able to take an upgrade exam if you don't already have the certification to upgrade from. I don't know for sure, but logically you shouldn't.

Although MS might let you take any exam you want so they can make some money .
