Remote Administration....Third Party Software

GoldmemberGoldmember Member Posts: 277
I want to find out which software provides the best functionality for Remote Administration?

I am familiar with Remote Desktop(on XP and 2003), but I am looking for a complete solution with more functionality and ease of use...

Basically, I want to be able to take over any computer at any time!!!

Thank you

Are you looking to pay for a solution or something only for free? VNC (RealVNC, UltraVNC) are the usual free remote management products. I've been using the free version of LogMeIn and I like it quite a bit.

Besides Remote Desktop, there's also Remote assistance in windows.

    DameWare looks pretty cool.

Supposedly Windows 2008 is going to enhance Terminal Services immensely...thats what I heard from a Microsoft Rep last week during a local workshop.

I download RealVNC but have to play with it awhile.
Dameware looks like more of what I was aiming for.
A complete solution which has increased functionality over something like Remote Desktop/Remote Assistance...

Anybody try Radmin? It was the first thing that came up on Google when I typed Remote Administration...

Have you tried remote desktop on any Vista machines? I would assume that implementation is going to be similar to what is in 2008.

Just out of curiosity, what features are you looking for that aren't available in RDC?

    dameware ftw

The NT Utilities is a great app, you can do most of your administration behind the scenes without even remoting in.

    Used a variety of applications,

VNC, Dameware, Logmein, Remote Desktop ... blah blah blah.

As mentioned it depends on what you wish to accomplish and how much your willing to pay.

Also its dependant on whether its a single machine or an enterprise...
