Morning all,

One more thing .... I have went through CBT nugget for BCMSN.... They says there that there is a difference between L3 switch and a multilayer switch!!! because a L3 switch is a switch with a router, while multilayer switch is a having CEF to cache from its router. Is that True ? This totally new to me ?

One more thing.... Can i use L3 switches (e.g. 3560) instead of routers for studying BSCI? [/code]

A multilayer switch can make forwarding decisions based on layers 2-7. L4-7 switching or sometimes called content switching can also be done. This is used to switch traffic based on application, port number etc. A L3 switch is still a multilayer switch as it switches on multilayers (2 & 3).

If you use 3560 swithces for BSCI you will not be able to do WAN links such as frame relay because you will not have serial interfaces.

That's right. Multilayer switches do deeper packer inspection so you can get switched based on layer 4 ports, session-IDs, URLs etc. Content switches like CSS11000 etc to name just one work like this.
