Touchpad settings not saving...

Using an HP laptop running Vista. I'm having a weird problem. Every time I reboot my machine, I have to set the pointer speed again. It's savings the settings until the machine reboots and it's getting aggravating.

Normally I don't mind, but I use the touchpad on this laptop rather than a USB mouse, so it's really bothering me.

Do I really have to change this each time, or should it be saving these settings?

Did you google the problem? I would for you but I don't know the model laptop you have or anything.

You may want to try uninstalling the device and installing it back again.

    It should save your settings.

Where are you changing the setting? There might be a 3rd party tool managing it as well.

Make sure the latest Vista driver for the TouchPad is installed. If that doesn't fix it, log into Vista using an Administrator account and see if the settings stick. It may be that the TouchPad driver is attempting to write the settings to an area of the registry that can only be accessed using Admin user privileges in Vista. I'm sure a few people in the HP customer support forums have this same problem, so have a look there too.
