Can't find another CISSP endorser?

What happens if you can't find someone to endorse you for the CISSP cert? Do you also need endorsement to be an Associate of ISC2?

According to the Experience Requirement Change FAQ, any CISSP, SSCP, or CAP holder in good standing with the (ISC)², or an officer from your company (CIO, CSO, etc.), can endorse you. It doesn't seem that it's a requirement that your endorser be a manager or co-worker.

According to the How to Become an Associate of (ISC)² page, all you need to do is pass the SSCP or CISSP exam to become an Associate of (ISC)². Endorsement is only required for full CISSP certification.

Thanks. I did not see whether you need minimum CPE credits to retain Associate of ISC2 status though..

That information is on the Associate of (ISC)² Designation page. It indicates that CPEs are not required until full certification is achieved. However, there is no mention if Associate of (ISC)² holders must pay an annual fee (I assume they do). I've emailed the (ISC)² about this and will post the reply.

I actually asked (ISC)2 about that exact thing. I got a brief email back saying there are local "volunteers" who may endorse you... presumably they will call you and/or make some kind of effort to verify your background. No other details were given to me. This information corresponds to what I think is the most current Endorsement form's "Request and Waiver for Endorsement Assistance" section.

On the (ISC)2 website, two endorsement forms are accessible. I believe this one is valid:

And this one is outdated:

Since the FAQ says you'll get an endorsement form with your pass letter, assuming that's true then this shouldn't be too much of an issue, but it's always nice to know what you're facing.

I find the (ISC)2 website difficult to use and generally annoying. I seem to remember being able to look up credential holders in my area (in a way that is not the same as the member directory here: https://webportal.isc2.org/BuyersGuide/ProfessionalSearch.aspx), but I haven't found it again.

There was nothing in my e-mail from (ISC)² after passing the CISSP exam to become an Associate of (ISC)² about the annual fee. Assocates of (ISC)² do NOT have access to the Members Section of their website but are copied on some of the e-mail communication. Since nothing is stated on their website under any of the Associate of (ISC)² areas nor was it mentioned on the e-mail I am guessing the annual fees don't apply until you actually hold the ceritification.

I may be wrong but that is my guess. I am curious to hear the response you get when it comes in.

Schluep, you are TE's authority on being an Associate of (ISC)² via the CISSP exam. Unless contradicted by a representative of the (ISC)² itself I defer to your expertise.
