I just bought a 2650, 96/16, i plan to upgrade max out the memory - will this run 12.4?

also, if a router has a DC power supply can i swap that out for an AC one? i'm looking at another 2509 that has a DC powersupply. i'd swap it with a AC supply from one of my 2500 series token ring routers.

Yes, it can run 12.4 Adv Enterprise Services with 128/32 (but not cisco recommended) lol
    i've personally havnt had a problem running 12.4 on a non 2650 & 2651 router(s)
Yes power AC/DC power supplies are swappable, same sys board plug, different input current.
There is no place like 127.0.0.1

    Yes

I never did buy any DC powered routers, but I remember researching that.... and I remember finally coming to the conclusion that the power supply swap would work.

hrm, so 12.4 will work on the 2650s. will i have to boot from TFTP?

    Hi,

No you don't, i have a couple of 2610 and 2612 with 12.4 booting from flash and they're working very stable, of course this's in my home lab.

    Hope this help. icon_wink.gif

Yeah tftp boot will work fine :) If you have a 2650 or 51 you can support 32MB flash out of the box.

Unfortunately unlike the 2600XM series, you dont have 16MB flash onboard. So you have
to have a 32MB stick in them.

You can run IP Base 12.4 on 2610-2621's (keep in mind you have to have the mem requirement)
or image decompression will cause software forced crash

Also i remember that the 2924M-XL has a limitation but ill have to look it up (dont remember)
because i dont ever use them lol...

hopefully the 2924M XL-EN won't be as much FAIl as my other 3 2924's - they don't support anything :). I have 2 2950's though, so i should be okay on most of my switching if i for some reason can't do trunking or anything with the new 2924.
