Yesterday morning at 8:45am I took the final test required to obtain my MCSA. 70-299. I think it was a good idea to squeeze this one in after 70-291 because the difficulty level isn't even comparable. I completely overprepared for this one. I felt going in that I was rock solid on security policies, GPOs, basic IPSec, group structure, and SUS. I felt like I was a little weak on some of the specifics involving certificates and not perfect on encryption.

Luckily, the test was almost entirely security policies and SUS. I'd say 2/3s of the test covered these areas. I was positive of the correct answer on 26 of the questions. The other 4 I was able to eliminate a few of the answers and take an educated guess on what remained.

The end result was a perfect score 1000 of 1000 and my MCSA.

My next step is VMWare certification. My employer is sending me out for the first VMWare class next week and I have the second one at the end of this month. After that, my goal is to complete the MCSE by the end of the year. That will mean that it took approximately 25 months to get to MCSE if I can manage it.
