how to renew my CCNA?

Hi all,

I was wondering about the different methods that I could renew my CCNA with......

besides the obvious, taking the CCNA again....

I was thinking about getting the CCDA soon, and maybe starting towards NP or security.

If your CCNA is expired you have to take the CCNA to recertify.

If it is not expired you can take any 642 professional level exam to renew it. CCDA will not renew your CCNA, but the CCNP or CCSP exams will renew it.

All the options are at the bottom of the exam blueprint page in the CCNA Recertificaton section:
To recertify, either pass the current CCNA exam, or pass the ICND2 exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE written exam.

Remember that individual exams are also good for 3 years -- so if you take a professional level exam to recertify your CCNA, you'd have to complete the rest of the exams within a 3 year period to earn that Professional Level Certification. Your CCNA would get recertified with each exam you take.

Didn't know that.. I thought it would be strange if Cisco let you stretch out a four test certification over 12 years :P
