Can anyone point me in the right direction. My manager wants me to look into MOM, knowing nothing about this product i need to find resources to find out how it works and basically what it does!

I'm not sure if this is one of those acronyms that means many things, but the one I am familiar with is "Message Oriented Middleware"...

The ones that I am familiar with from prior experience are SonicMQ and MQSeries.

If "Message Oriented Middleware" is what you mean by MOM, then I might be able to provide some information...I would need some specifics like platform(s) involved, etc...

Yes. MOM = Microsoft Operations Manager which has been renamed Systems Center Operations Manager or something to that effect. MOM is basically a monitoring tool for your Windows based machines. I utilize it in my environment and it alerts me of AD replication errors, Service errors, disk space, and pretty much any other aspect you can think of. It basically pulls all of the event logs, searches for errors, and then notifies you via email (or text message to cell/pager) of those issues. That's not all it will do but it is the gist of the application. It is to the Windows environment as SolarWinds is to the networking side. I really like it. It lets me know of potential problems before the really start to snowball.
