I'd just use the Sybex book if you have some experience with XP. It's cheaper than the MS pressbook. Then just read it and practice on your computer with XP and you'll be good to go. 1 month should be plenty of time. Good luck!

get familiar with the types of questions MS asks you. You may know your stuff, but you need to know how they present the question to you, and what answer they are expecting. They really like to trick you and make you think. As said before, practice tests are good start. Transcender is a great practice exam tool to get you in the 'Microsoft mode'.

I went ahead and bought both books (don't use the MOC books they're crap). I'm going to read the Sybex book all the way through and then use the MS book for more practice questions, review, and going through their tutorials. I'm passing practice exams by 65%-70% so after I go through both of those I'll be ready hopefully lol.

I think you edited your post after I responded. CBT Nuggets is a great overview that throws in some real-world scenarios where the material would be applicable. However, it doesn't go into as much detail as is necessary to pass the exam. It's a great supplement that I use and recommend, but you really need a solid written reference (or two). I'm not familiar with Test Out, but if you want a practice test that is a similar format to the MS exams, go with Transcender.

I picked them up for the MCSA core, and they really help.

I'm not certain they're worth that hefty price tag, but they help.

I always just think of a fail and throwing away $125. That helps justify things real quick. Unfortunately, I do the same thing to justify CBT Nuggets and anything else I want. Before I know it, that $125 has justified hundreds of dollars of resources. It doesn't work out that well financially, but I do pass tests icon_lol.gif

Ya I've spent about 1500 so far on tests and study materials, out of pocket. When I get done with the MCSA, hopefully that and everything else will give me some ROI :)

Thats how I justified it. If you can get a job that pays 10k over what you're making now, those expenses will have paid for themselves in about 3 months.

In all honesty, I'm glad I didnt know much or care about the cert world while working on my B.S., or I probably would have dropped out and just went to work.

If your signature is supposed to be a mnemonic then you have it out of order. It should be:

Very similar to the one I was taught:

I'm a big fan of the Nuggets, but I'm not that familiar with Test Out. You should watch a few demo videos and see what you think. They have a slightly different style of presentation, so you should go with what you find more enjoyable. I'm sure they both contain quality information.

I like CBT Nuggest for concepts, they'll help you pick up the material you read quicker.

Trancender is good for supplemental learning (explanations are pretty good) and determining when you're ready.

Sybex or MS Press books are pretty standard.

I like to do them in this order
    1) CBT Nuggets
    2) Read/Re watch nuggets/re-read
    3) Practice test/reread/rewatch weak areas

I guess i'll check them all out,i have cbt nuggets and TestOut plus Transcender and the CD that came with the book i am reading,i'm on chapter 10,got 5 more chapters to go! then i'm off to my 3rd exam! icon_eek.gif

i'll do what i have to do to pass the exam, study everything at my disposal and in order.

Thanks for all the advice and support friends ^_^
