I've seen people create their own network diagrams to make their own scenarios to practice. Is there any software I can use to create my own network diagrams? Ex. Routers, switches, etc.

aragoen_celtdra Member Posts: 246We use Microsoft Visio where I work. If you can get a hold of one from work or from a friend, you may want to play around with it as it is a very powerful program in terms of creating pleasant looking diagrams.
I would give it a 5 on a scale of 1-10 in terms of the learning curve on proper use. But you need to spend quite some time playing around with it for your diagrams to look nice. The program itself will not make it "pretty" for you.
When you get a chance, check out this thread I was just viewing last night:

There's actually some nice diagrams that people made of their network and I'm sure others will have a better program that they can recommend.CCIE Wr: In Progress...

Here is a diagram I did in Visio in about 5 minutes or less. It isn't super nice, but it's something to look at and something you can share with others when talking about problems, etc.

127.0.0.1 Member Posts: 53 ■■□□□□□□□□aragoen: Nice program! That's what I was looking for. I won't be buying it though, just sticking to the free trial for right now.
cisco_trooper: Nice drawings.
mikej412: Thanks for the link. Dia is not really what I'm looking for. What I was looking for is a program that I can use to easily and quickly create my own network diagrams. Like practice CCNA questions.
dynamik: Thanks for the link to the icons! I will just use these icons instead. Makes everything much easier on me. -

boostinbadger Member Posts: 256I have liked Visio even before it was a Microsoft product. I bought a copy of Visio 2000 and recently obtained a copy of Visio 2007.
It does take some time to tweak, but the end product is worth it. -

boostinbadger Member Posts: 256I am messing around with Network Notepad right now. It seems pretty simple and straight forward.
I am trying to build an active topology map that would indicate when a device is down. I think Network Notepad will let me do that.
