If you bought the same speed ram from the same manufacture then it should be the same.

I would not suggest buying 4, 1GB chips and would suggest buying the two, even one if possible. Not sure what your board can support but i would always go for the bigger single chip so i can expand in the future.

Interleaving only works between pairs so you don't gain anything by having 4x1 (essentially 2 banks of pairs) vs. 2x2 (1 bank of pairs). And you have 2 slots left for expansion.

Got my eye on a mobo that supports 8Gig of ram, i i do have a 32Bit and 64Bit XP OS, i bet 64Bit is flakey with games though so 32Bit will probably be the one

I run a 64Bit Vista Business edition on my home pc and there are games and programs i cant install because of it. I am going back to my 32 bit version because of it.

It's faster with 2 stick if doing dual ddr. If using 4 sticks, your memory's command rate defaults to 2T setting while 2 sticks use a 1T setting. Something you won't really notice (it's debatable among overclockers), but from a technical standpoint, it's faster. Also, you generate less heat with the less amount of sticks you use, but again, this isn't a really big deal unless you're overclocking.

A 32-bit OS can only address up to 4GB of RAM (3.5GB of RAM with 32-bit Windows). You need to use a 64-bit OS to get access to >4GB. Just remember that 32-bit apps will (technically) run more slowly on a 64-bit OS than they will on a 32-bit OS.

    Do I Really Need 64-bits?
