Are GIAC certs worth it?

I know CISSP is the gold standard along CISM or CISA, but these certs require you to have certain number of experience before you can earn them. GIAC on the other, apparently, does not have work experience requirement. But, I am trying to find out if it is even worth obtaining a GIAC cert, not very many employers have them listed in their job postings.

Any views?

You won't see the post for jobs in regards to these certs all that often.

But they are considered pretty reputable. At least the circles I come from seem to think they are.
