There's a user in the company who is unable to see the submenus. Eg. she cant see view>insert or Table>draw table. I have tried a repair of Word/MS Office, didnt help. Nothing's disabled in the disabled items list. Restarts havent fixed the problem. Any ideas??

What version of Office? Obviously pre-2007.

When you say she can't see them, you mean the menu's don't open, or they open and they are grayed out or are empty?

I mean she clicks the menu buttons, but nothing happens, there's no drop-down menus. Also, I tried going to tools>customise>options and the "always show full options" IS ticked. icon_sad.gif

Have you tried re-setting her 'normal.dot' template?

If it's a local profile it should be in C:\documents and settings\<username>\application data\Microsoft\Templates

    Roaming profile would be <server share>\<username>\application data\microsoft\templates

Word should create one when it first opens (if one is not there)

Try copying one from another user to that location, then open Word. also you could check the permissons on that folder location to make sure Word/User has the correct rights

Hey mate, that worked!! I renamed the template on the server, reopened Word. Lo and behold, Word's back to normal. Thank you very much. But why did this happen and how does the fix work??

The normal.dot holds the default and any custom settings (like Macros) for Word, kinda like a "user profile" for Word, somtimes it can get corrupted and need a re-set :D
