Passed Core Today
Scored 673, not stellar but I'm happy.
Tips for others...
Read more than one source, my training provider gave us Meyers All In One 5th edition, but I also used Exam Cram 2 by Que. The last one has some really weird analagies (talks about race horces one minute and passing mash potatoe the next ), but was good nonetheless.
Learn the tech specs by rote, data transfer speeds, cable lengths, CPU specs etc. This sux IMHO, but CompTIA call the shots and if you wanna pass.... Athlon CPU specs seem to feature a lot, XP range in particular. Also learn your IP addressing schemes, subnet masking etc.
RTFQ - Watch out for the red herring info in the question that is irrelevant to the answer!
Practice Exams - I found most of the online practice tests were hopelessly out of date, still asking about 386/486 CPUs. I bit the bullet and coughed up for the PrepLogic practice exams, were pretty close to the real thing IMHO.
Finally, I had to clean the mouse rollers on the test centre workstation I was given because the pointer wa jumping about all over the place, and guess what question popped up in the exam?

I also passed the A+ core today. However after all the posts here I thought I would have more questions on laser printers and cpu's. I had one question on laser printers and I can't recall one on cpu's. Most of my questions had to due with troubleshooting. Hardly any network questions either. I also had the same question twice. Very weird how comptia does these tests. But I'm happy I passed! -
