going to self-study LPIC-1 and need some help

hi,

I am going to self-study LPIC-1 and I bought O'Reilly's "LPI linux certification in a nutshell" a few days ago.

I think I am going to get CBT nuggets later too.

I just checked LPI's web site and found it's detailed objectives are quite different than O'Reilly's.
So is my O'Reilly outdated already or something ? Do I need other textbook for reference too ? Any help will be appreciated !!

I think you may have the same O'Reilly book I do. I'd search amazon for something more current. Be sure and check the Published date.

According to LPI.org's web site, the Exam Cram 2 published in 2005 is the most up-to-date book they recommend.

And here is another one published in 2005:

    thanks sprkymrk.

My O'Reilly is published in 2006(2nd edition), is that still outdated ??

because those books are published in 2005, which published even earlier then my O'Reilly (2006).

    Thanks for the help !

Hmmm. Published on 2006 but the objectives don't match? That is weird. I think your O'Relly book should be just fine.

I don't have my copy of the O'Reilly book in front of me, but from what I remember it covers the objectives just fine. In fact, I actually find it to be quite a good resource for the 101 exam (which I plan on taking in 2 weeks).

Also, check out the IBM developerworks tutorials for the LPI exams (101 and 102). They are excellent resources which I have been using extensively.

    Another great resource: http://www.linuxit.com/LinuxIT_professional_services/LinuxIT_training/LPI_training_with_certification/

    I am deeply sorry guys.

The O'Reilly I bought is in other language, not in english. I misunderstood the objectives, really sorry. I think my O'Reilly 2006 will be just fine.

    Thanks guys.

Beside already mentioned O'Reilly book (latest edition) there is also a very good and up-to date Sybex book that covers LPI-1 objectives more closely:
    http://www.amazon.com/LPIC-1-Linux-Professional-Institute-Certification/dp/078214425X/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b

I own both books, and I mainly used Sybex for the exams preparation.

There are also very good free resources:

I's basically a remastered Knoppix distribution with lots of LPI materials and exercises.
