Cisco SMB specialization

doom969doom969 Member Posts: 304
I just passed (last week) the following Ciso exams:

SMBAM 646 -171
SMBE 642-176
SBCSEN 650-178
SBCSAM 650-173

Those give te company I work for the Cisco SMB specialization, and the select partner level. They are also listed as current certifications in my personnal profile.
I'm happy about that because it gives us full access to the Cisco partner education center wich is gonna be very helpful for my ccna studies.

The ressources I used are the online Cisco courses. They are really well done and last about 5 half days. Also i am ready to take the icnd-1 exam, so my studies also helped.

    doom969,

Do you have a link to the webpage with the "online Cisco courses?"

You need to be registered ont the cisco web site, and you also need to be associated with a company that is a Cisco partner.

    Enjoy !

Yup, PEC is the source for training if you're serious about getting Cisco certs. I used it pretty heavily when going for my CCNA. Congrats on the pass, too, that's great to hear.

Is there any way to access it without working for a partner?

For the rest of you who aren't associated with a Cisco Partner and are feeling left out (and are bored with the CCNA Prep Center and CCNP Prep Center) and are desperate for any FREE Cisco Training Stuff you can find -- try the Cisco Learning Connection,

You never know -- you may learn something using the Cisco Learning Connection that you get asked on a job interview with a Cisco Business Partner which gets you hired which then gets you access to the "good stuff" so that you can check out that link to PEC. :D

Congrats on the pass, I took the same exams for my company 3 months ago. Right now I am pushing everyone so we can get the Premiere Partnership. Finally getting some big clients that use all cisco.

Yeah, we're going for the premier partnership level too.
From what my cisco rep told me, if we have a CCNA (wich we have) and a CCDA (wich we dont) and a specialization (wich we also have), we should have no problem upgrading the partnership level. So, thats the goal.

looks like CCDA might be in the cards! :Dicon_wink.gif
    I usually hang out on 224.0.0.10 (FF02::A) and 224.0.0.5 (FF02::5) when I'm in a non-proprietary mood.

Do you guys allready have a CSE on staff? I need to have one of the sales people take that exam. Hopefully our cabling/televantage tech will study for the CCDA. In the meantime I need to complete the CCNP.

    doom969,

Was your company a "registered partner" before you passed all the exams required for the "SMB specialization?" Did you have access to PEC as a "registered partner" employee?

Yes, and yes, although I beleive what you can access in the pec depends on your partner level, specializations, etc...

    doom969,

So since your employer is a Cisco Select Partner, you have PEC access to the relevant material for the Cisco Premier Partner, in your case, material towards the CCNA, 642-382 CXFF, and 650-393 LCSE exams? Is that what you mean by "...you can access in the pec depends on your partner level...?"

Do you have unlimited access or is there a time limit to the version of the PEC course you enrolled in? Do you have any access to future revisions of the PEC course you enrolled in?

Ok i'm still a noob with this since we are only a select partner since last week. This is how I understand it :

If you're not a partner at all you dont have access to the PEC.

As a registered partner, you have limited access to the PEC, namely what you need to get a specialization. I had access to all courses needed for the smb spec.

When the exams are done and your specialization is approved you can apply to the select level of partnership.

Once that is done, you have full access to the PEC. As of now I seem to have unlimited acces to the PEC. Inluding material for the CCNA CCDA but also ccnp, sales expert, other specialization, etc...

I must tell you that we enrolled trhough a Cisco program that was specifically for smb Spec.

If I made an error, maybe one of hte gurus can correct me, otherwise, I hope that answers your question.
