"CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, either pass the current CCNA exam, or pass the ICND2 exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE written exam."This week I have achieved unprecedented levels of unverifiable productivity

lmx,
The exam number and code of "640-811 INCD2" is not correct. The correct exam number, code and title is "640-811 ICND Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Exam." Unfortunately, the 640-811 ICND exam has retired as of November 6, 2007. If your CCNA certificate is currently still valid, you may take and pass the 640-816 ICND2 exam to recertify your CCNA. If your CCNA certificate is expired, you have to take either the 640-822 ICND1 and 640-816 ICND2 exams or the 640-802 CCNA exam.
I hope this helps.

AlexMR Member Posts: 275The best option for recertification is to pass a higher level exam. In your case, that is a 642-xxx exam. Prepare and do it and you will be one step closer to a Professional certification.Training/Studying for....CCNP (BSCI) and some MS.

mgeorge Member Posts: 774 ■■■□□□□□□□i have to agree with alex, take the BSCI (642-901)
and you'll be 3 exams away from the ccnp and it will renew your ccna
or if you really want to go the distance, take the composite!!!There is no place like 127.0.0.1 -

Or the BCMSN. Depending on what path you are looking considering. If you want to get into design then BCMSN is the best option as the CCDA requires knowledge of it. If you are considering CCVP i think that one is your best option. For CCNP either would be the same. For CCIP go for BCSI.
If you still have plenty of time go for ANY 642-xxx exam. If you need to recertify in 3 months or less then probably retaking ICND2 is the safest choice.
Good luck with whatever you decide.Training/Studying for....CCNP (BSCI) and some MS. -

I believe at some point Mike wrote here that once you pass a 642-xxx exam, you only have 3 years to finish CCNP. You cannot stretch the passing of CCNP over a 12-year period by recertifying your CCNA with a 642-xxx every 3 years.
