How to break a password

Hi! everyone. please can you help me on how to break a XP password if you are locked or forgottenn your password without re-instoring the operating systems thus loosing some very important information.

2. use john the ripper or rainbow tables to crack the windows sam database

Login with the Admin account and reset the user account.

Use the above option.

Use the password reset disk you created (you did create one didnt you?).

Place the drive as a Slave in another machine and remove the needed information and proceed with a OS Install.

Use EBCD.

There are several ways to address this problem. The easiest is to boot of of something like the ultimate boot cd that has a password change/removal option. From my experience with this type of tool it works better to set a blank password rather than changing it.

I could tell you the name of the CD that i use, but unfortunately i dont know it. My buddy was tired of everyone "borrowing" his cd and named it "Desperate Housewives season 1" so that none of his friends were interested in it and when i made a copy i just wrote Desperate on it.

Blow ISO to CD and boot follow the on screen prompts. Recommend that you set the password to blank (you'll see what I mean). Reboot and you are done.

Also a VERY good choice, slideoff like your style!

Depends if you want to reset (NT Offline Password & Registry Editor) or recover (OphCrack) as they say the choice is yours.

I absolutely love OphCrack when I did desktop support and had any local admin password issues this always came in handy...I think it only comes with 4 of the rainbow tables so it won't be able to crack anything containing special characters...enjoy
