Hey guys, I actually posted a VLSM example last night but for some reason it's not here anymore. If someone knows why, please let me know. Anyway, just to make sure I understand VLSM.. please can someone check the following:
Company requires 5 subnets of varying sizes:
Customer services - 80 computers
Accounts - 50 computers
Marketing - 20 computers
Product - 10 computers
Sales - 5 computers
This is how i would set it up:
Customer services
192.168.1.1 (Default gateway)
255.255.255.128 - (Subnet mask to be configured on default gateway, and all hosts within this department)
Accounts
192.168.1.129 (Default gateway)
255.255.255.192 - (Subnet mask to be configured on default gateway, and all hosts within this department)
Marketing
192.168.1.193 (Default gateway)
255.255.255.224 - (Subnet mask to be configured on default gateway, and all hosts within this department)
Product
192.168.1.225 (Default gateway)
255.255.255.240 - (Subnet mask to be configured on default gateway, and all hosts within this department)
Sales
192.168.1.241 (Default gateway)
255.255.255.248 - (Subnet mask to be configured on default gateway, and all hosts within this department)
One router to be used with for fast ethernet ports, each one assigned the relevant default gatewat as defined above. Thanks!

flipmad Member Posts: 184looks good to me. the subnetting looks right, just remember when running a classful routing protocol like RIP or IGRP, they will not be able to communicate between subnets

AlexMR Member Posts: 275That works just fine.
As blake said, you need classless routing (EIGRP, RIPv2, OSPF) in order for VLSM to work.Training/Studying for....CCNP (BSCI) and some MS.
