53 questions, simulation was in the first ten. I was doing good and felt very confident, at question 49, I had 5 minutes left and question 50 turned out to be a simlet with 5 questions within itself, I tried to read it and work it and the time ran out. So I didn't finish the simlet with 5 questions and questions 51-53. Do you guys think they counted the whole simlet with 5 MC questions wrong since I didn't finish it and didn't hit next. I feel like I didn't answer 8 questions. I guess I need to manage my time better, i'm very discouraged this is the first cert i've ever FAILED.
I'm scared to take it again, I put alot Of time in this exam, as I am sure you guys did also, but i'm a litlle burned out on it and I find myself dreaming about networks.

The testing centers are so far away, and Spring Break is going on, the closest place is 75 miles away and next available date is 04-11-08, wish me luck, even say a prayer. Thanks for listening.

You'll get it next time, what slowed you down, the subnetting? I would suggest just working on your subnetting speed. You know if you would've had time to finish the test you would've had a passing score no question.

Good luck to you on the next attempt!

Can you still take the 801? I thought it was retired.

Unfortunately, I know that pain. My first time around the 640-801 dance I got the exact same score. Study up, re-read your book(s), and get plenty of hands-on practice with your weak areas. You'd be surprised how fast all that studying fades, and you want to make sure you get right back on track so you can knock it out of the park.

    mclemore1,

Do you possibly have the Cisco Press "CCNA Exam Certification Library?" I used the included "exam simulators" to help get my timing quicker. However, quicker doesn't mean I took shortcuts. If a subnetting problem came out, I'd take the time to work it out on paper again and again, regardless of having seen that problem before. Maybe that might help you?

Also, I too failed the 640-801 CCNA exam the first time. It took me over a month to first get out of my depressed state and then restart my reviews to pass it on the second take. So if you think you can compress my month process into 10 days, more power to ya.

As far as your weak areas of Technology and Troubleshooting, your problem may be related. Basically "technology" deals with the theories and overall nitpicky details about the various technologies involved at the CCNA level. Troubleshooting may be related to your weakness in understanding the technologies and how to properly implement them. I believe that one type of "troubleshooting" question is in the category I call "incomplete configuration." Basically, it's when you think and apply the theory associated with the technology and apply it to the problem/situation/trouble in the question. So I hope you can find help in the following link for the online FREE Internetworking Technologies Handbook on Cisco's website.

    I hope this helps.
