Boson ICND 1 vs 640-822

Hey fellas,

I was just wondering what the feeling is of those of you who have taken that Boson ICND 1 exam (the one that comes FREE from the Cisco Press book) vrs. the real test 840-822. I thought I was nearly ready to go and i started in on the boson exam (with the option on to tell me how many correct answers to pick as well) and still i found that very hard. Is it much harder than the real exam? Either way I have pushed back my exam date because it scared me off!

hey mate I was also happy with my progress on the ccent content from both the cisco book and the exam cram book. Until I started to go through a few questions on the bonson exam prep!!

Is this a joke? have they mixed up the ccent cd with the ccnp cd? I got stuck on the first few questions and gave up!!

I have seen no indications from cisco that the exam is going to be that hard....Im going to ignore that cd from boson as I dont think its worth me knowing that level of cisco just yet!!

It sure is good to hear someone else have the same experience. Besides the Cisco press book i've also been watching the CBT Nuggets videos. When i took the full CCNA back in 2003 it wasn't near this hard in fact... I wished it were harder because I studied so long and prepped so much I didn't feel it tested me to the abilities that I had studied for. Go figure. Do you have you rest scheduled yet fommy?

call me simple but im curious...on the exam is the answer format not either to be able to choose one answer (for a one answered question) or multiple answers for a multi answer question? or is it simply a case of being able to choose several answers for every question regardless if it is a one answer question or not?

I took my exam last week and passed.. barely.

The only testing software i used was the boson software that came with my Odom ICND1 book. I purposedly cracked open the test software a week before the test because I wanted to gauge how well I was doing. I did all the 161 questions (without the option of telling how many answers to choose). It took me nearly the whole week (5 days) to get through the test. Partly because I went with the option to tell me if my answers were correct or not. And I used the results to guide me in reviewing any materials I needed to brush up on.

When I finished the whole thing, I scored a whopping 55%

By that time it was too late for me to re-schedule my exam because I finished the mock exam the day before I was scheduled to take the real thing.

I did feel that the boson test gave me a realistic feel for how difficult the real exam was going to be. At certain times during the real exam I even felt like it was much easier than the boson exam. It may be becuase the boson game me a hard time but once I've studied and reviewed the concept I was being tested on, I was that much prepared for the real thing.

bottom line is, take the time to complete the boson practice tests and review as much as you can the materials it tests you on. One thing I'm changing in my studies for the 816 is that I'm going to take the Boson practice tests earlier so it gives me more time to go back and polish up anything that I'm weak on. Also, I downloaded the free Transcender demo for the 604-816 test and I'm impressed by how well they explain the answers and solutions to the questions/problems. I'm planning on buying that too.

But... in the exam, there are questions where it asks for multiple answers (and the questions will tell you how many answers it wants from you) or there are questions with only one answer (you'll know because it wont let you choose more than one.)
In the boson practice exams (at least the free one that came with the book), you can turn off the option to notify you of how many answers it wants. So all the questions on that exam will allow you to put multiple answers whether there's only one true answer or there's multiple answers.

Few! Yeah that answers it perfectly! and yes thats what i meant! i got worried for a second because i thought that you could choose more than one answer for each question whether it was a multiple answer question or not! if that makes sense

Don't worry, I felt the boson CD had more tricky questions as well, It's a great way to find out what you're weak on.

I hated the Boson exam too!! Haha i was thinking about it the other day, and how it's so much harder than the real exam. I also don;t appreciate the questions that don;t tell me how many answers to choose!

I found the Boson exam questions to be MUCH harder then the actual test - which is good because in the long run it’s better to study more than you need then less!!

This is probably guarantee a pass if you can get through the Boson test.
