871 Router

I just purchased a 871 router off of ebay. When I try to connect though the console port all I get is garbage like this:
"§m¥Õ}•%}µm-e7ÝwUu§mUw­7ÝEíEeÅ”}ÔdgE5…MEewg%G}5õÔ}}µu".

I can connect to all my other routers and switches using the same Tera Term setting.

Anyone have an idea what the problem could be before I try to send it back?

Are you connecting with these settings:
• 9600 baud
• 8 data bits
• No parity
• One stop bit

Looks like someone changed the baud rate using the configuration register.

Change the baud rate in Tera Term ... use trial & error, go down the line until one works ... or is there an auto setting?
