If you have a Cisco 2600XM series that already has bootrom 12.2(8r) then you can
already upgrade to 256MB ram, as this is the required bootrom ver to support 256MB
If you have 12.2(7r) and below then you cannot upgrade to 256MB ram unless you
upgrade your bootroom to 12.2(8r)
2600 and 2600XM bootroms are not interchangable due to the speed of the routers ram bus, 2600's EDO's and operates at 100mhz, 2600XM's use SDRAM and operates at 125Mhz.
Ram is also not interchangable.
If you have a 2600XM and you want to see what RAM is in the router, use "Show c2600"
and it will display what ram is in what slot, works on 12.3 or greater, example;
DIMM Slot 0:
DIMM Type: Dual-Bank
DIMM Size: 64MBytes
DIMM Slot 1:
DIMM Type: Dual-Bank
DIMM Size: 64MBytes
You can see what bootrom you have by doing "sh ver"
Hope this clear up your confusionThere is no place like 127.0.0.1 -
