Hi men,
what they mean for "In place upgrade"?
I'm unable to understand if it corresponds to a Repair installation or to an Installation over the previous.

An in place upgrade refers to upgrading from an older OS to a newer one by inserting the CD while in Windows and running the setup for the new OS, rather than doing a format/reinstall.
Advantes to in place upgrades are that they are easy and save all your data. Disadvantages are that you dont get a clean install, and if you had glitches or problems on the old OS they could carry over to the new OS.All things are possible, only believe. -

The question arose to me from one of the practice questions of thechexams:6. You have upgraded 10 laptops to Windows XP Professional. All users complain they experience problems when putting the computer in standby mode. You investigate and discover that the client computers' BIOS version does not support ACPI. What should you do to solve their problems? (Choose 2) a. Perform a complete re-install of Windows XP b. Disable Power Management c. Update the BIOS d. Perform an in-place upgrade of Windows XP
He says that an upgrade was yet made, then I thought to a repair or an installation over the previous.
Thank You! -
undomiel Member Posts: 2,818An in place upgrade is also another term for doing a repair install actually. I've seen it used in a few of the Microsoft KB articles.Jumping on the IT blogging band wagon -- http://www.jefferyland.com/
