is this possible for both pix to have the same hw addresses?
smells fishy, also the serial and act key are teh only things that are diff from the
show ver output

If they are a configured failover pair -- then yes, it's possible.

If they are 2 separate auctions by 2 separate sellers, then one is probably running a scam

they are 6.3(3)...If i upgrade thee with 7.x code will i have any problems ?

I think you need to get a new activation key on the Cisco Website when you upgrade the sofware, otherwise you wind up with an upgraded pair of restricted software PIXs.

once these have been upgraded....will they be ok for lab work

I've heard different things...... and I get paid way to much to know how to do it. I just say "upgrade the PIXs" and wave my hand (or send an email) and it just seems to happen -- but I'm positive there's more to it than that, since there's usually a time lag between my declaration and the PIXs being upgraded.

I have made it to the Activation Key upgrade page with my Guest Level Cisco ID.... but I didn't have anything to upgrade to try it out.

They'll be great for a lab -- if you figure out the upgrade process (or someone else with actual experience chimes in) and you wind up with a pair of Unrestricted 7.x or 8.x PIXs with Failover capability (or the Unrestricted/FO Pair).
