CAS and CCS

I'm studying CAS and CCS and their differences right now. So why would someone want to use CAS instead of CCS, or vice versa?

Back from the CCNA you should remember the goal for a network admin is to have a stable converged network.

For voice, the goal seems to be to have fast, fun, and efficient call setup, connection, teardown, and billing..... or at least that's how I think about it icon_lol.gif

CAS is inexpensive and can be used with any transmission medium.... but phone freaks can build boxes to send the call setup and teardown tones, so fraud is an issue. Some of the signaling tones and human speach can interfere with each other. And the call setup and teardown is slower so it's a less efficient. You also lose bandwidth if you're doing data transfers because of the signaling.

With the separate dedicated path for signaling in CCS, call setup time is faster and the trunks are only used when a connection is established, so its a more efficient use of resources.
