My lab

I've acquired the following pieces from work and eBay for my CCNA. I'm looking to get a CCNP as well afterwards so will expand more later.

2511 - 16D/16F - 12.3.26-IP PLUS
1720 - 48D/16F - 12.4.19-IP - WIC-1T
2610XM - 256D/48F - 12.4.19/12.4T-AdvEntServices + SDM - NM-8A/S - WIC-1B-ST
2610XM - 256D/48F - 12.4.19/12.4T-AdvEntServices + SDM - None - WIC-1SHDSL - WIC-2T
2610XM - 256D/48F - 12.4.19/12.4T-AdvEntServices + SDM - None - WIC-1SHDSL - WIC-1T
2950-24 - 12.1.22-EA11(ED) - SI
2950-24 - 12.1.22-EA11(ED) - SI
AP1242AG - 12.4.10b-JA3
PIX-506E - 128D - 7.1 - No ASDM

The most useful item has to be the 2511. Constantly having to move the console cable around was getting tedious to say the least. The AP and PIX aren't doing anything at the moment but I may replace one of my WRT54GS' just to experiment. Might get a basic ASA5505 + 10 user license as wedging PIX OS 7.1 onto the 506E works but I have to leave ASDM out to manage it.

I have a vast pile of Cisco Press books as well which I'm slowly reading through :)

Next step hardwarewise is to get a decent rack and put it into my garage or something. The fan noise from the lab is pretty loud and distracting.

You have more than enough for a CCNA lab and enough for a CCNP. Some will say add a 3550 switch, but I can't justify spending that kinda dough unless I knew I was gonna do CCIE in the near future.

Yeah. I'll have to think about the 3550 for the reason you said. We do have one here at work which will be replaced soon but unfortunately management have decided that we'll be trading it in.

For CCNP I need the 2950/2960 with the enhanced firmware from what I can tell so I'd have to get those at a minimum?

Working back on my CCNA and then possibly CCNP.

Are you using any of those as a frame switch? If not you may want to check out the 2520. It works very well

I'm using the NM-8A/S in one of the 2610XMs as a frame relay switch. I may yank the module and put it into a cheaper plain 2600 at some point in time.

Bought a cheap 1841 with 128D/32F as well now. I'll have to find another serial WIC now hmm...
