Need help w/home lab

QdotQdot Member Posts: 14 ■□□□□□□□□□
Hello everyone this is my first post to the forum i've been "lurking" for a week or two now. Im studying for my CCNA at the moment and am looking to build a lab. One of my good female friends works for a local Ebay store that has a good amount of cisco equipment. All items are currently on auction so i have to make my decision about what i want within the next 24 hours. THe good thing about this is the prices that she will sell the equipment to me for is a great deal i know because i have been shopping around. I also wont have to pay shipping and shes going to knock off the sales tax for me as well.

Heres where your input comes in. I dont know what to purchase. I started studying about 3 weeks and am not sure about what equipment would be best. Any insight you guys could give me would be very much appreciated. Heres the list:

Get the 2960 and the ethernet 2950 at a minimum in my opinion. All 3 of them are running the enhanced firmware which is nice. If you don't mind it having fiber ports then get the remaining 2950 as well.

As for the router, you'll probably want to get 2-3 of the larger ones that have WAN interfaces like a 2600XM or 1841. Not sure how good a 851W DSL/cable router would be for the CCNA.

Depending on the price, hop on those switches. The 851W might be a cheap way to play with wireless and SDM if the price is right. There's no reason to get more than one though.

What routers you buy really depends on what you're willing to compromise on and whether you'll be going for anything after the CCNA. People have managed with the very old 2501 routers but they can't run the latest version of IOS which you'll need for CCNP etc...
