issues installing SDM and 3640

Hi,

Feel really stupid having to ask this. Maybe some other people here have had issues. I have read all cisco docs and did a search for other posts on subject but still I have questions. I have a few 3640’s and currently am studing for CCNP. SDM is new to me.
What files have to be installed on router exactly? Confused about installing on PC or hosting on router. These are the files I installed on 3640 for sdm

Sdm.tar
Home.tar
Home.shtml
Gosdm.shtml
Sdmconfig-36xx-37xx.cfg

These files total a little over 6mb’s. I had to find a IOS image of 26 mb or less which I did. (c3640-ik9o3s-mz.124-3d.bin) which left me just enough to install files above. I would like to install a newer more feature loaded IOS but the best 12.4 are all 32mb. SDM docs state you must install files on partition 1 on flash only, no pcmcia slot cards will work with sdm. You would need 40mb of flash (which the 3640 won’t take except with flash cards which don’t work with sdm.

I could not locate sdm.html or home.html from version I downloaded. I believe it is 2.5. I’m assuming that this is why I have to use HTTPS. SDM is working now with the files listed above but I really would like to find a way to install sdm and have the best 12.4 ios aswell. Anyone know what I should do.

You should be able to put all of SDM onto your PC unless you want SDM express.
