Trouble loading an IOS
peanutnoggin
Hi TechExams Forum members...
I have a CISCO 2501 I'm attempting to setup in my home lab. Once I hyperterm to the router I receive the following:
"System Bootstrap, Version 5.2(5), RELEASE SOFTWARE
Copyright (c) 1986-1994 by cisco Systems
Bad memory - wrote zero, read 0x08000080 at location 0x00000010"
The system will hang there... I've let it sit for appx 15 minutes. Is there something I can do to remedy this problem. I have a few different IOS on a TFTP server, but I cannot get into the router to configure the eth 0 interface. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also... this router worked about 3 months ago or so when I last booted into it, but I hadn't booted it up since.

Bad RAM?
Open it up and reseat the memory. If it still doesn't work and you have another 2500 you can swap the RAM to see if it helps or not.
